Haley was born with a natural love for horses. She began riding at 8-years-old as a pony clubber in Columbia, Missouri. She gained an interest in the horse industry while growing up in Eagle, Idaho, which led her to pursue an agricultural degree at Utah State University.
Haley obtained a master's degree in Agricultural Extension and Education at USU. In 2018, she wrote a grant which funded Utah's first 4-H "horseless horse program" in Washington County. Haley empirically evaluated this program for her research thesis, "A Case Study Comparing the Life Skills Development and Knowledge in Youth Participants of Horseless and Traditional Horse Programs in Utah."
Her bachelor's degree in Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences included an emphasis in Equine Science and Management. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, she enjoyed studying equine nutrition, anatomy, pathology, and health care as well as pasture management and horse business management. As part of her undergraduate internship, Haley began her career by organizing several successful horse extension-education clinics in Cache Valley. She has continued her passion of organizing equestrian events at Scotsman Center since opening the facility in 2017.
While Haley appreciates all equestrian disciplines, she is particularly a 3-day-eventing and dressage enthusiast. Haley and her Mountain Green-native husband, Tysen, met country swing dancing at Utah State. They have two children who both love animals. Haley's non-horse interests include hiking, gardening, graphic design, and listening to podcasts.
